No hay cielo detrás

A los veintisiete años, sufrí una muerte súbita. Un bloqueo total en el sistema eléctrico del corazón lo paró en seco, suceso para el que la ciencia aún no tiene respuestas.
Durante la reanimación, mi cuerpo quedó atrás. Crucé una oscuridad densa hacia algo luminoso, donde siluetas brillantes me transmitían información. No había miedo, solo una paz absoluta. Tiempo y espacio dejaron de existir tal como los conocemos.
Volví. Pero regresé a un cuerpo intervenido, sostenido por un motor implantado en mi interior. Cuerpo dividido entre lo orgánico y lo mecánico.
Desde entonces, este trabajo fotográfico recorre esa frontera: la de un cuerpo que la ciencia intenta explicar, la de una experiencia que la espiritualidad intenta encasillar. Me interesa lo que se rompe pero persiste. Me interesa la pregunta que queda suspendida.
Parte del proyecto ha sido publicado en el catálogo "Cuaderno Real nº 2" de la Real Sociedad Fotográfica, dentro de la colección de doce cuadernos realizados con motivo de su 125 Aniversario (2024).
There is no heaven* behind

At the age of twenty-seven, my heart stopped for no apparent reason. A total blockage in its electrical system left it silent, and science still has no answers for cases like mine.
During resuscitation, my body was left behind. I crossed a dense darkness into something luminous, where bright silhouettes seemed to transmit information without words. There was no fear, only absolute peace. Time and space ceased to exist as we know them.
I returned. But I returned to an intervened body, sustained by an engine implanted inside me. A body divided between the organic and the mechanical.
Since then, this photographic work crosses that border: that of a body that science tries to explain, that of an experience that spirituality tries to pigeonhole. I am interested in what breaks but persists. I am interested in the question that remains suspended.
Part of the project has been published in the “Cuaderno Real No. 2” of the Spanish Royal Photographic Society, within the collection of twelve log-books made on the occasion of its 125th Anniversary (2024).
* "Cielo" in Spanish has a double meaning, atmospheric sky (sky itself) and celestial sky (heaven).
